2012 Turkey Challenge

November 17-18th, 2012

Online registration will open at 9:00 am September 17th. It will sell out fast, so please mark that date and sign up ASAP.

Back by popular demand – the 2012 MBS CrossFit Turkey Challenge! Mark your calendars, hit the gym, and train hard: on November 17-18th we are bringing it bigger and harder than last year.

What happened last year? If you missed it, or if your body just won’t let you remember, here’s a taste: rope climbs, fat bar deadlifts, the burpee wall, THE LEGOS, and an awesome old-school-meets-new-school vibe much like the first year of the Games.

How to top that? This year we’ll test you with 4 workouts over TWO DAYS. We will have 30 team spots made up of four people (2 gals/2 guys) and can be a mix of athletes from anywhere – you don’t all have to be from the same gym. Individual entries are up to 130 slots this year.

EVENT DETAILS

Individuals

Rx Division - 25 male/female spots
Athletes will NOT be allowed to scale any of the four workouts. Athletes must be able to perform standard CrossFit movements (handstand pushups, muscle ups, squat cleans, snatches, etc.) without modification.

Open Division - 40 male/female spots
Weights and movements will be prescribed for the intermediate CrossFit athlete. If an athlete cannot perform the prescribed weight, we will be able to modify the weight or movement so they can still do the workout, but they will be out of contention for winning.

Teams

Teams will consist of four people (2 gals/2 guys) and can be a mix of athletes from anywhere – you don’t all have to be from the same gym. All four athletes will compete in 4 workouts to determine the fittest Turkey Challenge team.

Rx Division - 15 Rx team spots
Athletes will NOT be allowed to scale any of the four workouts. Athletes must be able to perform standard CrossFit movements (handstand pushups, muscle ups, squat cleans, snatches, etc.) without modification.

Open Division - 25 Open team spots
Weights and movements will be prescribed for the intermediate CrossFit athlete. All athletes of team should be able to perform basic CrossFit movements.

Programming

Test of Fitness - Our goal this year was to bring 4 workouts that will leave NO DOUBT to who the fittest man/woman/team is at the end of the competition.

Off-Season -We want to be understanding to the athlete that is in “off-season” mode, which usually means lifting more weights in preparation for the upcoming games season. What this means is that the volume will be reduced - you will not see a Murph followed by a Triple Helen, and then a 5k row. You should very easily be able to do this competition, take a few days off for Thanksgiving, and then be able to pick up your training where you left it.

Accessibility - We want a competition that tests strength, but is also accessible to those that want to test their fitness in a competition setting. The loads and movements will be light enough for most intermediate level CF’ers to participate, but substantial enough to test efficiency of movement.

Prizes

Over $6,000 will be awarded in cash and prizes to top 3 finishers in each division.

Registration

Online registration will open at 9:00 am September 17th. It will sell out fast, so please mark that date and sign up ASAP.

Individual registration - $90
Team registration - $300

    Hi Pat,

  10. Brandon Mericle says:

    Hi Pat,

I know the Turkey Challenge sold out quickly and I’m sure you’re getting this question a lot. We have several athletes who were unable to get through and sign up for the Turkey Challenge, they did put their names on the wait list. I was just wondering if you have any possible spots opening up. Please let me know as these athletes were extremely disappointed that they couldn’t get through to register. Thanks!!!

  11. I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I’ll
check back later and see if the problem still exists.

  12. Kari says:

You are probably getting this a lot but are there any women’s rx’d spots available? Thank you!

  13. Kari says:

This is most likely a long shot, but would there be any Women RX’d spots available? Thank you!
