MBS In-House Competition!

Community spirit at it’s best during our Friday Night Lights in house comp last winter.

MBS CrossFit In-House Competition

What: Individual competition. Age category divisions (see below for further clarification). Competition will test 3 workouts: CrossFit Total, a 5-10 minute traditional CF chipper, and a third workout to round out the testing.

When: Saturday, September 10th from 9-1pm

Where: MBS CrossFit Broomfield at the hangar

Details: The competition is mostly for fun, hanging out, getting cheered on, and cheering on your friends. But, we will still have everything organized and run on time and of course, judges to make sure all our reps are legit. We are keeping this to MBS only, so you don’t need to worry about being embarrassed or anything. No matter your skill or experience level, you are welcome to join us. You are welcome to invite family and friends to come hang out and watch. Bring your own snacks and drinks as you wish.

Registration is $35 and includes a t-shirt.

Note – At registration, it will ask for your squat starting weight. This is needed for us to group ability levels better for the CrossFit Total. If you read through the rules of the CF Total, you will see that the rules are that you will have 3 attempts on each of squat, press, and deadlift. No more. Your first attempt should be something you know you can do, but still pretty heavy. Your second attempt will be more of a challenge. Your final attempt is usually reserved for a new PR. 



We will be awarding top male/female in the following age categories*:

0-29 years

30-39 years

40-49 years

50+ years

This is for the age you will be on the day of the competition.



Of the 3 workouts, one workout will consist of movements that may require scaling (ie; pullups, double unders). The CF Total and the final workout will NOT require scaling, you just do what you can do. We will have a listed scaling option for the chipper workout, and for anyone that scales a movement, they will be placed behind the last Rx person.

For example:

Person A scores

650 on CF Total, 5 Rounds on the chipper (as Rx’d, no scaling), and 1:24 on the 3rd workout. (Placing in workouts was 15th + 9th + 7th = 31 pts)


Person B scores

700 on CF Total, 6 Rounds on chipper (scaled double unders to 2x singles), and 1:10 on the 3rd workout. (Placing in workouts was 10th +18th + 1st = 29 pts)


Person A has a total of 31 pts. Person B has a total of 29 pts and places ahead of Person A.  Person A did the workout as Rx (no scaling), but didn’t do as well on workouts 1 and 3. Person B did scale the chipper workout and placed behind the last Rx person, but did well enough on workouts 1 and 3 that they still have the lead.



This is only a hypothetical example, but the point is that you can scale the workout and still place high, assuming your other abilities are strong. So, NO EXCUSES!! Sign up and have some fun with us!

Many people have misconceptions on what it is to meditate, when in fact it is a simple brain training technique we can use to transform our lives. You will learn what exactly meditation is, the many emotional, health and performance benefits, as well as how to apply it to our lives. Shelby brings years of experience in mindfulness meditation as well as many different applications. If you’re looking for emotional stability, stress management, or that extra edge for peak performance and optimal health we invite you to join. There will be a guided meditation so bring something to sit on like a blanket or pillow and wear comfortable, non distracting clothing.

MBS CrossFit Summer Crush @ Snowmass- The Countdown Begins

We are just 2 weeks away from the 1st Annual MBS CrossFit Summer Crush Competition in beautiful Snowmass Colorado, benefiting Project Sanctuary. Let’s  PACK Snowmass with CrossFitters and raise buckets of money for this awesome foundation which supports families of military personnel returning from active duty.

We currently have 20 Rx teams signed up and 10 Scaled teams signed up. We have room for 4 more Rx and 2 more Scaled for the heats to be full.  If you are in interested in competing.. IT’S  NOT TOO LATE.  Sign up HERE.  100% of  registration fees will be donated to Project Sanctuary.

Join me, Coach Meriah, this Saturday at 9 AM out on the tarmac! We will be starting at 9 AM with a snatch session building up to a heavy one rep max. You’ll take a little break have a snack maybe watch some other lifters finish up their session and then hit a heavy clean and jerk. The sessions will go from 9 AM until 11 AM at our Broomfield location. We will be out in the sun so dress accordingly (or undress appropriately…?), wear sun block if needed, a snack to you keep your energy up, water to stay hydrated, and bring any adult beverages to celebrate your PR’s when you’re done! Sam will be there to take pictures, so please join us for some fun lifting in the sun!

Saturday, Sunshine, Snatching and More!

Join me, coach Meriah for a Super Saturday session out on the tarmac! Our Barbell WOD cycle has come to an end, and it’s time to max out our lifts. We’ll start around 9 am with a snatch session (20-40min) work up to a max effort. When we aren’t lifting we’re cheering our friend to hit big weights! You’ll take a short break, maybe eat a snack, stay hydrated, watch some of the big go down, and then be ready to hit a heavy C&J! We’ll be outside so dress accordingly, and as weightlifters you’re probably going to want some sunscreen! I’ll bring a small stash of adult beverages to celebrate victories afterward! Teen CrossFit Classes
Two sessions are available to provide your teen athlete at the Middle School to High School level a training program that uses the principles of CrossFit to physically prepare them for the fall sports season and beyond.  Both sessions will be held at MBS II in Arvada.

Morning sessions
Starting June 6th this 4 week session with Coach Jeremy will be held Mondays and Fridays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. and costs $80.  Want to know more email Coach Jeremy@mbscrossfit.com.

Evening sessions
Starting June 13th this 6 week session with Coach Emily L. will be held Mondays and Thursdays 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and costs $125 or $100 per athlete if you sign up with 3 friends. Want to know more email Coach EmilyL@mbscrossfit.com.

Flow Yoga Studio located inside MBS II in Arvada is offering FREE yoga under the stars this summer.  When? The first Tuesday of the month starting June 7th at 7:00 p.m.

This is the perfect time to drag your co-worker, friend, or family member into the gym and show them what “fun” you have in these walls. Both locations- Broomfield/Arvada All day-All classes!

We are going to have a little healthy competition between MBS I and MBS II.  Let’s see which of the 2 gyms can introduce the most new people to our awesome community.

Here’s how it’s going to work… The gym that posts the most member/guest pictures to social media on Bring A Friend Day with the hashtag #mbscrossfitlove WINS!!!! The winner win be announced the next day. The gym that win get bragging rights and ???



An MBS Event You Won’t Want to Miss- 2016 Murph

Monday, May 30th – Memorial Day Murph at Broomfield Commons @ 9:00 AM.

We are excited to be hosting our annual “Murph” workout outdoors and alongside the Broomfield Veteran’s Museum’s annual picnic and ceremony on Memorial Day.

The Murph workout is a 1-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run. We will have a scaled version and will also allow teams to work together to finish this workout.


Friends and Family are welcome to join in.

All regular classes at both MBS locations are cancelled on Monday May 30th.







In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
