Summer Boot Camp at MBS II
New CLASS in Arvada starting June 6th!  Join us for boot camp/metcon WODs Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:00 a.m..

Wednesday, June 8th ALL DAY – BOTH locations! FREE!!!

Teen CrossFit Classes
Two sessions are available to provide your teen athlete at the Middle School to High School level a training program that uses the principles of CrossFit to physically prepare them for the fall sports season and beyond.  Both sessions will be held at MBS II in Arvada.

Morning sessions
Starting June 6th this 4 week session with Coach Jeremy will be held Mondays and Fridays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. and costs $80.  Want to know more email Coach Jeremy@mbscrossfit.com.

Evening sessions
Starting June 13th this 6 week session with Coach Emily L. will be held Mondays and Thursdays 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and costs $125 or $100 per athlete if you sign up with 3 friends. Want to know more email Coach EmilyL@mbscrossfit.com.

Yoga Under the Stars
Flow Yoga Studio located inside MBS II in Arvada is offering FREE yoga under the stars this summer.  When? The first Tuesday of the month starting June 7th at 7:00 p.m.

Yoga on the Tarmac
Core Power Yoga of north Denver and MBS CrossFit are teaming up to present 3 yoga sessions on our back tarmac of the Rocky Mountain Jeffco Airport this summer. Every 3rd Thursday of the month starting June 16th. Join us at 7:30 pm. Cost is FREE, but please register here.

We are going to have a little healthy competition between MBS I and MBS II.  Let’s see which of the 2 gyms can introduce the most new people to our awesome community.

An MBS Event You Won’t Want to Miss- 2016 Murph

Monday, May 30th – Memorial Day Murph at Broomfield Commons @ 9:00 AM.

We are excited to be hosting our annual “Murph” workout outdoors and alongside the Broomfield Veteran’s Museum’s annual picnic and ceremony on Memorial Day.

The Murph workout is a 1-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run. We will have a scaled version and will also allow teams to work together to finish this workout.

 

Friends and Family are welcome to join in.

All regular classes at both MBS locations are cancelled on Monday May 30th.

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

Upcoming Weightlifting Events

Last week I posted the video of some of the highlights of the Olympic trials.  While the big events are very exciting, local meets are also a ton of fun to watch!  In fact local events are great events to train for!  Just like your local CF competition, or Spartan race there are lots of local competitions for ALL levels and ages!  If you want to train or watch, you’re in luck! There are a few coming up on the horizon and including a very special event in June.

First up the 2nd Annual Mile High Olympic Day Weightlifting Open -This competition is open to USAW members of all skill levels and abilities. Last year’s event saw everyone from a 152-pound woman snatching 216 pounds, an 11-year-old, 76-year-old all lifting! This year’s event will be extra special as it  will be held outside (weather permitting), and will have 2 National referees, making this meet a qualifier for the 2016 World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Germany in October as well as for the 2016 University/U25 National Championships in Baton Rouge, LA, in September and the 2016 American Open in December in Orlando, FL. BTW Masters in weightlifting begins the year you turn 35 and a new category begins every 5 years there after and you compete within your weight class within that age group! Also coming up later this summer is the Rocky Mountain State Games in Colorado Springs, CO. July 23rd & 24th this meet is a bit bigger and a lot of fun! I’ll have more information on this event as it draws nearer.  If you’d like to train either of these events with the goal of qualifying for something higher or just for fun, please contact me (Coach Meriah) at meriah@mbscrossfit.com, on how to get started, training, technique, or any other questions about these events or weightlifting!

Summer Bootcamp at MBS CrossFit Arvada

MBS CROSSFIT SUMMER BOOTCAMP in ARVADA!
Starts June 6th M/W/F at 8am. Designed for all fitness levels. No prior CrossFit experience required.
Class is high-intensity interval training without complex barbell movements. Classes will include body weight movements, rowing, running, jumping/plyometrics, medicine balls, kettlebells, dumbbells, and many other movements, in longer metcon formats. This class is geared toward the athlete who wants more of a cardio burn without heavy Olympic lifting. All classes are lead by experienced coaches who will lead you through a fun, safe, energetic workouts.

We are so excited to be hosting our annual “Murph” workout in the Broomfield community alongside the Broomfield Veterans Museum and Rotary Club’s annual ceremony and picnic on Memorial Day at Broomfield Commons Park in Broomfield. This event is open to MBS friends and family.

For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

We encourage first-timers to scale and/or modify movements as needed…Or, to do the workout in a team!

Following our workout, Broomfield Veteran’s Museum and Rotary Club will be hosting their annual Picnic and Ceremony from 11-1PM, which will include displays, local music, and food.
