Patrick Burke
Owner, Head Coach
Pat has always been interested in testing his own capabilities – physically and mentally. He has used his body as a testing ground for some of the most grueling, spirit-breaking workouts imaginable. His love for fitness and pushing the boundaries eventually led him to CrossFit. He was introduced to CrossFit in the Marine Corps and was immediately able to apply it to his training. As a Marine Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, he knows the importance of real-world fitness and being able to operate at a high-level of physical performance while dealing with the stressors of life.
His skills as a coach come from years spent as a student. He continuously studies/trains mixed martial arts, Olympic lifting, and endurance. He instructs athletes of all ages and fitness levels in nutrition, fitness, and athletic conditioning. It is Pat’s sincere desire to pass on his love for fitness to everyone he meets.

Janelle Burke
Co-Owner
From the moment Janelle was introduced to CrossFit, she fell in love with the concept of “the sport of fitness”. She is a lifetime athlete that brings energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to MBS CrossFit. Janelle has the ability to stay positive and motivate others to perform, a genuine commitment to the well-being of others, and makes each workout a new and exciting experience. She is a firm believer in the MBS motto and knows from personal experiences that we are only “strong” if the Mind, Body, and Soul are working together. Strong is beautiful!

Brandon Deines
Coach
Brandon was a successful athlete throughout his youth, competing in many sports, earning State Championship Wrestling titles and competing at the State Championship Football Game at Mile High his senior year. Coming out of high school, Brandon was introduced to CrossFit and found a new sport in which he could channel his competitive spirit. In 2010, he completed a gym internship to earn his CrossFit Level 1 Certification and has been coaching ever since.
Since then Brandon has coached at five CrossFit gyms throughout Colorado, attended multiple Outlaw Way CrossFit camps and earned certifications through CrossFit in both Endurance and Olympic Weightlifting. He has competed in many CrossFit events statewide including the Rocky Mountain State Games, Colorado Open and Southwest Firebreather.
In the past year, Brandon has fallen in love with the sport of weightlifting, competing in unsanctioned and USAW Sanctioned Weightlifting Meets, often with success. He has yet to fall short of the podium in a sanctioned weightlifting meet. He aspires to climb the ranks in the sport (while maintaining quality) and also compete in a national meet as soon as possible.

Ben Yates
Coach
Nebraska native and graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), Ben received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2013. Growing up within a military family, Ben was born in Omaha, but spent time living in Germany and North Dakota for the early part of his life before moving back to live in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1999.
Ben’s passion for fitness has been an integral part of his life for almost ten years. In school, he played various sports including baseball, soccer, and rugby; and took interest in full marathon distance running and powerlifting. He competed nationally for powerlifting at the high school level. In college, through work at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Ben began teaching swim lessons for children and coaching adults in swim conditioning. He had the opportunity to coach para-rescuers and prospective Navy Seals to reach their swimming and endurance goals. He commonly worked with military personnel, helping them to achieve their fitness testing targets.
After taking interest in CrossFit in 2011, Ben became a Programming Committee member for Offutt Air Force Base’s CrossFit affiliation in Bellevue for two years. His drive to help others achieve wellness and fitness fueled his programming experience; programming is something he loves to do! In early 2013, Ben was able to gain even more insight into the CrossFit world with his university internship at CrossFit Omaha. There he had the opportunity to see CrossFit through a new lens and seek programming input through the eyes of high performing athletes.
In addition to CrossFit, Ben has experience in one-on-one personalized training and corporate wellness. He worked as a corporate wellness trainer for Fit In The City Inc. in Omaha, and did personal training at the university health and wellness center. In January 2014, Ben planted new roots in Broomfield, Colorado to begin a lifelong career. His journey has lead him to MBS CrossFit, where he is proud to share his passions and knowledge.

Emilee Brent
Coach
Emilee comes to MBS from Eugene CrossFit in Oregon. Although she has always been active, having played numerous sports in high school, she had never experienced anything quite like CrossFit. When asked what she loves most about being a coach, she beams with pride and exclaims, “The people; showing up every day and watching people do something they couldn’t do the day before or something they never even imagined, inspires me.” On a side note, if you come to her class, you will most certainly witness how CrossFit helps improve your dancing skills.
In her free time, Emilee loves to run half marathons or volunteer. She is also the Director of two events that she pioneered: The 5&10k Love (www.fiveklove.com) and the Honey Badger Half Marathon & 6k.

Scott Sneller
Boot Camp Coach
Fitness and athletics has been a way of life for Scott while growing up in a family that competed in everything. After playing collegiate tennis and then coaching high school soccer and tennis on his way to graduating with a teaching degree in Biology and Psychology, Scott found himself looking for a new way to challenge himself. Endurance sports seemed a natural fit as his common montra included “the farther I go the stronger I get”. As Manager of the premiere Running Specialty Store in Michigan Scott had the opportunity to help train hundreds of athletes on their way to crossing the finish line of events ranging from 5k to marathons. After years of competing in triathlons and ultramarathons, including a 120 mile race through the Colorado Rockies, Scott needed a change and found CrossFit in 2012. He fell in love and soon found himself coaching at his local gym. Scott has since achieved balance pairing his love of CrossFit alongside his longing to run in the mountains. Scott has a true passion for helping others achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle through fitness, simple nutrition and daily habits.

Scott holds a B.S. in Biology, is a National Council on Strength and Fitness Certified Personal Trainer and a Weller Endurance Running certified running coach.

Kristin Reffett
Coach
Kristin was introduced to CrossFit back in June 2011, in Nashville, TN, and has been a trainer since 2012. She fell in love with CrossFit immediately after her first workout and has since molded her life around helping others find happiness and success in their quest for a healthier lifestyle.
Kristin comes from both a competitive endurance and strength training background. Prior to CrossFit, she competed for five years in collegiate Cross Country and Track and Field for Murray State University, while earning her BA on Accounting and MBA. Her events were primarily the 5k and javelin. Her background also consists of many fitness hobbies such as rock climbing, hiking, biking, swimming, and any sort of adventure.

Antonio Gurule DC
Coach
Antonio Gurule began working in the health and fitness to inspire people to move. But, his motivation really goes beyond simply helping others, as he has a strong interested in reaching people on a different level.
Finding out what motivates each one of his clients and patients is an integral component to treating and training them as a chiropractor and strength coach. He strives to create an environment where others feel motivated and excited to reach new levels, and in turn, encourage others around them to also reach for their goals and to be happy, strong, and healthy.
Antonio believes that everyone can and should enjoy a life full of happiness and adventure. Humans interact through movement, and what better way to live and interact than to learn how to move better! To be stronger! To be mobile! To be you!
Antonio received a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder just outside of Louisville and Lafayette Colorado, where he met his wife and business partner Nichelle. He has been involved in many aspects of health and fitness over his years at CU, and was also a student intern for the Sports Medicine program of which he worked directly with the football team and basketball teams, and ultimately lead him into becoming a chiropractor at Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California.
These various certification and training modules gives Antonio a diverse background and knowledge of various types of methods to treat and train, as a chiropractor, those who seek guidance and care from him.
His is an enthusiastic student of the body constantly looking for new and innovative ways to challenge his body whether it be through, kettlebells, CrossFit, Olympic lifting, and functional training, and Indian Clubs, or exploring the mountains and trails surrounding Louisville and Lafayette Colorado.
During his free time Antonio loves to spend time outdoors with his wife Nichelle, sone Bodie, and his dog Sawyer. He enjoys all adventures of Colorado including rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, camping, and attempting to learn how to unicycle.

Craig Wiebe
Coach
Craig was first introduced to Crossfit in the Marine Corps while on deployment to Afghanistan in 2008. After years of bicep curls and bench press, his first introduction workout of Fran was a real wake up call. He quickly saw the benefits of “constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity across broad time and modal domains”. He decided this was something he had to tell others about so he obtained his Level 1 and started coaching. He is passionate about helping people reach their goals through fitness whether that be smashing PR’s or being able to pick up their grandkids without injuring themselves. He believes Crossfit can truly change people’s lives for the better and has seen countless examples throughout the last 10 years.
Outside of the gym, he can be found outdoors doing anything active including skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, spending time with his beautiful wife and playing with their golden retriever. He is always looking for people who enjoy the active lifestyle so hit him up if you are looking for a friend.

Emily Pieper
Coach
Emily is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up playing competitive soccer which led her to winning three State Cup Championships along with competing in three Regional Championships before graduating high school. While attending Penn State University, she decided to shift gears and started playing rugby. By the time she graduated in 2007, she was a D1 National Champion (2003 and 2007).
In March of 2010, Emily began working out at MBS a few short months after moving from Washington D.C. Here she met Janelle Burke and instantly fell in love with the MBS community and CrossFit. Since then, Emily makes the trek from Boulder knowingly passing other CrossFit gyms along the way. Her dedication and passion for CrossFit motivated her to become a coach where she now helps and empowers others in the MBS Community.

Stacey Balzer Cochran
Coach
Stacey has an athletic history dabbling in a variety of sports her entire life. The sport of weightlifting was introduced to her when she discovered the weight room in high school. Since then, she has competed in several powerlifting and bodybuilding events and continues to pursue her passion for strength training and conditioning. Additionally, Stacey enjoys running 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons.
When she found CrossFit and experienced its variety of functional movements - including weightlifting - she was hooked and her love for the sport only continues to grow. Obtaining her CrossFit Level 1 Certification in 2013 played a key role in not only making her a better athlete but it also gave her the opportunity to share her love for the sport and knowledge with others.
Stacey is a Masters athlete who loves competing in both team and individual events. She made it to the Inaugural Masters Regionals in 2014 where she finished 14th in her age group in the Southwest Region.

Mandy Scheller
Coach
Mandy never saw herself as the “athletic” girl. She played some soccer as a kid and was a cheerleader in high school. When she discovered CrossFit, she also found her inner athlete. The realization that our bodies can do so much more than our minds think they can was a huge breakthrough for her. Everything about CrossFit: the community, healthy competition, constant encouragement and overall balance of fitness and health has become her passion.
She’s been doing CrossFit since 2013 and decided to combine her love of both CrossFit and kids to coaching Kid’s CrossFit.
Mandy has also competed in many local Colorado CrossFit competitions including MBS’ own Turkey Challenge.
