I have always been interested in testing my own capability – physically and mentally. I have used my body as a testing ground for some of the most gruelling, spirit-breaking workouts imaginable. My love for fitness and pushing the boundries eventually led me to CrossFit. I was introduced to CrossFit in the Marine Corps and was immediately able to apply it to my training. As a Marine Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, I know the importance of real-world fitness and being able to operate at a high-level of physical performance while dealing with the stressors of life.

My skills as a coach come from years spent as a student – I continually study/train mixed martial arts, Olympic lifting, and running. I instruct athletes of all ages and fitness levels in nutrition, fitness, and athletic conditioning. It is my sincere desire to pass on my love for fitness to everyone I meet.

From the moment I was introduced to CrossFit, I fell in love with the concept of “the sport of fitness.” I am a lifetime athlete that brings energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to MBS CrossFit. My strengths include: The ability to stay positive and motivate others to perform, genuine commitment to the well being of others, and my ability to make each workout a new and exciting experience. I am a firm believer in the MBS motto and know from personal experiences that we are only “strong” if the Mind, Body and Soul are working together. Strong is Beautiful!

He then went on to place 13th out of 65 at the regional qualifier.

I have been active all my life. For 13 years, on and off, I've been involved with martial arts. I started lifting at globo gyms at age 19. I love to build muscle and see how far I can push my body. Before CrossFitting, I was a commercial electrician for 9 years. Climbing ladders, lifting heavy pipe, pulling heavy wire, and lifting giant spools of wire definately added to my level of fitness. I started CrossFit about 3 years ago with a great coach, who I am still great friends with, and because of his enthusiasm, I was hooked immediately. I enjoy attending certifications and seminars to advance my knowledge of the sport and perfect my technique. I believe that perfect practice makes perfect.

Jared Johnson

-CrossFit Level I Certification
-Competed on Team MBS at 2010 North Central Regional Qualifier
-4 year Army veteran

Jared has been an athlete at MBS since January of 2010. His athletic background combined with the mental toughness gained in the Army helps him excel in some of the hardest CrossFit workouts. Some noteable accomplishments include a 535 lb. deadlift and completing a double Murph (run 4 miles, 200 pullups, 400 pushups, and 600 squats). But, don't let his toughness scare you. In the end he is just a big teddy bear.

- CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification

For the last two years CrossFit has pushed me out of my comfort zone. CrossFit truly is Mind Body Soul, and I love being a part of that process. I began my own training while accompanying my husband's tour in Germany with the Marine Corps. I began training others when people developed an interest in the “crazy workouts” I was doing. Although we could never affiliate overseas, I helped coach CrossFit Orientations that introduced the sport of fitness to the military community. I came back to my home state in the Spring of 2010 and have been blessed to work with a stellar group of athletes at MBS. I believe goals, commitment, and taking some risks develop strength that lasts. I have also found that fitness is not a matter of aesthetics, but a matter of doing.
