I have always been interested in testing my own capability – physically and mentally. I have used my body as a testing ground for some of the most grueling, spirit-breaking workouts imaginable. My love for fitness and pushing the boundaries eventually led me to CrossFit. I was introduced to CrossFit in the Marine Corps and was immediately able to apply it to my training. As a Marine Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, I know the importance of real-world fitness and being able to operate at a high-level of physical performance while dealing with the stressors of life.

My skills as a coach come from years spent as a student – I continually study/train mixed martial arts, Olympic lifting, and running. I instruct athletes of all ages and fitness levels in nutrition, fitness, and athletic conditioning. It is my sincere desire to pass on my love for fitness to everyone I meet.

From the moment I was introduced to CrossFit, I fell in love with the concept of “the sport of fitness.” I am a lifetime athlete that brings energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to MBS CrossFit. My strengths include: The ability to stay positive and motivate others to perform, genuine commitment to the well being of others, and my ability to make each workout a new and exciting experience. I am a firm believer in the MBS motto and know from personal experiences that we are only “strong” if the Mind, Body and Soul are working together. Strong is Beautiful!

Emilee comes to us from Eugene CrossFit in Oregon. Although she has always been active, having played numerous sports in high school, she had never experienced anything quite like CF. When asked what she loves most about being a coach, she beams with pride and exclaims “The people; showing up every day and watching people do something they couldn’t do the day before or something they never even imagined inspires me.” On a side note, if you come to her class, you will most certainly witness how CrossFit helps improve your dancing skills.

In her free time, Emilee loves to run half marathons or volunteer. She is also the Director of two events that she pioneered: The 5&10k Love (www.fiveklove.com) and the Honey Badger Half Marathon & 6k.

I have been active all my life. For 13 years, on and off, I’ve been involved with martial arts. I started lifting at globo gyms at age 19. I love to build muscle and see how far I can push my body. Before CrossFitting, I was a commercial electrician for 9 years. Climbing ladders, lifting heavy pipe, pulling heavy wire, and lifting giant spools of wire definitely added to my level of fitness. I started CrossFit about 3 years ago with a great coach, who I am still great friends with, and because of his enthusiasm, I was hooked immediately. I enjoy attending certifications and seminars to advance my knowledge of the sport and perfect my technique. I believe that perfect practice makes perfect.

I’ve been a recreational athlete all of my life; running, cycling, competing in triathlons, a few half marathons, snowboarder. But not until I needed to prepare for the Fire Department Physical Agility Test (CPAT) did I learn about CrossFit. Janelle whipped me into shape and within 6 weeks I was ready to test. I watched 20 year old guys with glamour muscles walk off the testing grounds in failure. I passed on my first attempt. It was right then I knew I wanted to be more involved in CrossFit, learning, teaching and helping to spread the good word.

While the other MBS coaches are bona fide badasses, I consider myself an average athlete who really, really, REALLY likes pizza and beer.

I attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado for a year, then spent the next couple years having fun, being a rebellious youth, and snowboarding about every other day. During that time Pat was in the process of developing this awesome community here in Broomfield. In 2008, I came to Denver to his grand opening and was introduced to CrossFit which was unknown to me as I had never heard about until then. I moved to Denver, signed up to finish college, and started doing CrossFit. As I’m sure some of you can understand, I cannot say I was in love with CrossFit after my first WOD, but after some time I loved the hard work put into the workouts and how awesome it was to willingly put my body to the test. I enjoy competing so that I can challenge my abilities and come back to the gym to continue to learn more every time I walk through the door.

Although we all have different backgrounds and various skill levels, I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet you all where you are at and support you as we work together to achieve your fitness goals and make life changes with the support and camaraderie of others in the community. It is a privilege to spend every day with awesome people in the MBS community who want a better lifestyle for themselves, friends, family, and loved ones. CrossFit is one of the biggest movements to people’s fitness and health and I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

Having grown up in the central MI boonies, I’ve always had an active, adventuresome spirit, often disappearing for a day or two during the summer because I was busy off jumping my bike into a lake, trying to find any way to sled down the big hill even faster trying to dodge all the trees in the winter, or finding some other way to give my parents a heart attack throughout the year. That spirit continued as I joined the army as a Ranger for 3 years and a police officer / S.W.A.T sniper for another 3. Throw in skydiving and a little mountain biking in-between that, and yeah, I like to have fun. I’ve been doing CrossFit for 2 years now. I remember the day I realized for sure CrossFit was for me. Janelle, who was my On-Ramp coach, had all of us pick up a random 45lb object and simply said “Ok, let’s go” and just had us go run/walk/perform random tasks with whatever item we chose. No time limits, no destination, just work until she said stop. I was hooked from that moment on.

I really enjoy coaching the MBS On-Ramp classes. Something about seeing the progress/changes new CrossFitters undergo in just those first 4 weeks and that look in their eyes when a technique “clicks” for them makes it a very fulfilling role for me. Then to see them move on and take on bigger challenges puts a smile on my face.

I have always loved competing. I started from a young age in competitive gymnastics, then track, soccer, and even made it to nationals in competitive water ski shows (yes that exists :)). I raced mountain bikes; downhill, dual slalom and four cross in the CO Mountain States Cup for a couple of years as well. None of that prepared me for how much I would love competing in CrossFit.

I was introduced to Crossfit at a back yard barbecue They said “you used to be a gymnast? You should try CrossFit”. So I did. My first workout was 10 rounds for time: 29 back squats, run a 400. I almost died, couldn’t walk for a week, and was so embarrassed at my lack of “in shape-ness” that I vowed to redeem myself. Long story short, I was hooked the moment I walked into the gym. End of story.

Being a psych nerd, the relationship between the mental and physical aspects of athletic performance and athlete motivation is very intriguing to me. I love to study sports psychology and will never stop being curious about how the mind and body cooperate (and fight) with one another.

As far as gymnastics goes, I believe that there is magic in the ability to move your body with confidence. When you can effortlessly control your movements and know where you are in space and time, you feel in control of your body, and that feels good. I’ve been given the opportunity to help others do something that I love, and that makes me genuinely happy. CrossFit is emotional for people. It changes lives. If I can help one person reach their goal or encourage someone so it makes a difference for them, I consider myself to be successful.

I grew up a small town athlete spending most high school playing basketball, mixed with some gymnastics and a touch of track & field. I started CrossFitting and coaching in 2008 in Bozeman, MT after being introduced to my brother at the peak of my un-fitness. I have always been a ‘strong’ or ‘power’ type of athlete and I instantly loved the variety of challenging workouts that CrossFit provided. Over the years I have competed in many CrossFit competitions including a trip to the NW Regionals in 2011), and am currently focused my training to Olympic Weightlifting, and am a nationally ranked 75kg lifter. I love the mix of strength and technique you need to put a loaded barbell overhead. When I’m not training or cutting for a competition I do like to get out and hike, dance, ski and eat!

I am new to the MBS team and Colorado, & I am excited to be here and use my subtle and corny jokes on a fresh set of ears!
