Tips for a Successful Nutrition Challenge
The top 3 teams share the keys to their success thus far:
From team Cup, Sting and 2 Ding a lings:
Our team is comprised of all Challenge/Paleo rookies. Up until this point we’ve relied heavily on the support of the MBS coaches and other MBS members/challenge participant. We have loved being able to ask questions on FB and seeing everyone’s beautiful meals has been so fun and inspiring. The structure and camaraderie of this challenge has been great for our team.
Our team talks multiple times of day, checking in on what everyone is eating. We celebrate every time one of us passes up on a bite, sip or lick of something challenge unapproved that our kids are eating.
We’ve been sharing food ideas and recipes and we surprise each other with little “treats” during the week. We are very focused on the foods we can eat rather than the foods we can’t eat.
Because none of us have every done a challenge like this we are determined to see how it feels to go the 56 day duration. A day off would take away that opportunity.
We are enjoying the journey!!!
From team Keksvernichtungsmaschinen:
A) Be a team - Check in with and support one another, and get on each other’s nerves.
B) Try new foods even if it doesn’t sound appealing at first
C) When logging make sure all points are earned or do it right then (i.e. log your stuff, do mobi or go for a late eve walk…)
D) Have the end in mind and remind yourself to trust in the process.
Really acting as a team - is the big thing for us, as is our team mentality. We came into this challenge with the mentality of: “We want to win,” and with that we had to really evaluate as a team what we would and wouldn’t allow ourselves (or each other) to get away with. This allowed us to be honest with what our individual weakness are and how we will have to continually address them.
We will use each other as sound boards for frustrations and to share our daily individual successes and/or failures with. We try and know what everyone’s weekly schedule is like so we as a team know when one of us might need a little extra motivation to get through the day/week.
Also we try hard to be available for one another should one of us have trouble remembering to eat or finding time to do their mobility or just need to vent about something small and stupid.
We know each others end result goals and anytime we see each other we talk about the small steps each of us is doing to try and achieve them; or strategize different ways to attack the issue then later on in the week we make sure to follow up with each other about it and see how it’s playing out.
Knowing what’s going on in each others lives and what our goals are. Keeping in contact and encouraging everyone especially at times we know are more difficult. Sharing how we feel throughout the day too and sharing recipes. Just really being a true team and not every woman for herself.

Think positively
1. It is important to know what foods/ingredients you must avoid and check labels when you grocery shop to make sure you do actually avoid them, but when you cook or eat in general, try to focus on what you ARE eating (i.e. make sure you have a protein, a fat, and a carb). By focusing more on the aspect of the diet that makes sure you GET what you need vs the part that restricts you from this or that, you will have a better outlook on the things you eat.
2. Recognize that things take time to get out of your system. Your body takes weeks to rid itself of some toxins, so if you decide to do a detox like squeaky clean Paleo, it will take time to begin feeling the effects of the diet. If you give yourself cheats, you may be resetting the clock as far as allowing your body to get rid of things-making all your previous efforts less effective (who wants to START over).
3. Team Accountability
Meriah’s Opinion:
I personally think the team accountability is huge for two big reasons. 1. because we/me don’t want to disappoint our friends. 2.having our friends to share in the ride helps make those bumps that we all run into little more bearable because we know we aren’t the only ones going through them!
