The Team Challenge is an 8-week health and fitness game designed for you and your teammates to see what kind of impact you can have on your body, fitness, and lifestyle if you commit yourself to a specific structure. There are three categories to succeed in the game - Performance Results, Physical Results, and Lifestyle and Accountability. This is not just a “change your body” challenge. It is a “who you are” challenge!
Playing the Game:
Body and performance measurements will be done before and after the challenge to track your improvement. Over the course of 56 days, you will record your progress in each of the following areas:
Each individual of the team will be required to report their scores daily on an online spreadsheet. The combined individual scores will create the team score which will be on a LIVE leaderboard online - you will be able to see where you rank daily!
Included in the Challenge:
We will also be posting group extracurricular activities such as yoga on the tarmac and hiking dates for fun ways to hangout and support each other in the challenge.
Cash and Prizes for Winners:
MBS has partnered with some local and some well-known CrossFit businesses to offer incentives and to the winners of the Team Challenge. A portion of each team’s sign-up fee will go towards CASH so the more people that sign up, the larger the cash prizes.

FAQ’s
1. Why is this a Team Challenge?
A - We all have been where you are. Nutrition is confusing, finding the time to workout daily is hard, and mobilizing and supplementing like you should seems like a great idea if only you’d remember to do it. Old habits die hard and in order to change them, you are going to need the support of friends and family. Why not put them on your team and achieve your goals together?!
2. How do I pick my team?
A - Well, aside from the suggestion to choose people whom you already have phone numbers for programmed into your phone, it doesn’t really matter. You can do this challenge with anyone, including your friends and family that aren’t members of the gym. You will need to communicate with them on a regular basis throughout 8-weeks, so make sure that communication lines are established upfront.
3. Can friends and family outside MBS participate in the challenge?
A - Absolutely! If you would like to get your co-workers or family members involved, it’s only going to make it more fun. All that is required is that they play by the same rules. They will be required to show up for the preliminary team workout and final workout. Non-members won’t be eligible for the individual prizes, but will be eligible for team prizes.
4. What if I don’t have a team?
A - Let us know you want to participate and we’ll find you one. You are likely not the only person looking for a team.
5. What our entire team can’t make the preliminary or final workouts on September 13th or November 8th?
A - You’ll need to RSVP with Meriah@mbscrossfit.com to attend one of the following Team Challenge Make-Up Sessions:
Preliminary workout makeup sessions:
Final workout makeup sessions:
Thursday, November 6th at 6:00AM
6. Besides my teammates, will I get additional coaching support?
A - Absolutely! We will be assigning coach/s to each team for guidance and support. Additionally, we will be using our Facebook group page another gathering place for ideas, support, and a place to vent.
7. Do I have to take before and after photos?
A - Before and after photos are optional. However, we highly recommend taking them. We will have a professional set up and take high quality photos in whatever clothing you feel comfortable wearing.
8. How do I log my scores daily? What happens if I skip or forget a day?
A - This will be very simple. You will log onto www.mbscrossfit.com daily (check the WOD first :)), then post your scores for the day. It will be a logging system similar to our current WOD whiteboard on the blog. The daily scores will be collected and combined in a google spreadsheet to update a LIVE leaderboard. You will have until 3pm the following day the post your score for the previous day. If, after 3pm the following day, you haven’t posted a score, you will receive 0 points for that day. So, it is very important to make this a daily activity.
9. Can I take a protein shake as my “supplement?”
A - We discussed this topic in as many ways that we could come up with, and in order to serve those that want to gain weight, along with those that want to lose weight, we had to come to a compromise for the challenge. Here was our final ruling: You may have up to one protein shake daily without losing any points. However, it will NOT count as your supplement. The supplements that we strongly encourage are fish oil, vitamin D, magnesium, or branched chain amino acids. Additional guidance on supplements will be provided with our “Team Challenge Foods List” prior to the challenge.
10. Can I earn bonus points?
A - You will have plenty of ways to earn bonus points.
11. If I have a question about the challenge, who do I contact?
A - Each team will have an assigned coach for immediate support. You can go to them for guidance on what foods are allowed and not allowed, as well as help with your workouts. You can also email me patrick@mbscrossfit.com for help.
